1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, and payment information. We also collect data about your usage of our service, including project metadata and activity logs.
- Account information (name, email)
- Project metadata and file references
- Usage analytics and activity logs
- Device and browser information
- Marketplace transaction records (items purchased or sold, amounts, timestamps)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve our services, process transactions, communicate with you, and ensure the security of our platform. For marketplace activity, we use your information to facilitate the connection between buyers and sellers, deliver purchased digital files, and maintain records of the transactions you take part in.
3. Data Storage and Security
All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We use signed URLs for all file access and never store files in public buckets. Access is strictly controlled through role-based permissions.
4. Payments and Payment Processing
Versic is a technology platform and venue for the sale of digital audio products. Versic is not the merchant of record and is not a party to any marketplace sale. Payments are processed by Stripe, including Stripe Connect, using direct charges on the seller's own Standard connected account. Versic does not collect or store full payment card numbers.
To enable a purchase, Versic shares the transaction data necessary for Stripe to process the charge. Stripe acts as an independent payment processor and handles your payment details under its own terms and privacy policy. We encourage you to review Stripe's privacy policy to understand how Stripe processes payment information.
For sellers, payout, identity verification, and tax information collected during onboarding are handled by Stripe under Stripe's terms and are associated with the seller's connected account. Versic does not receive or store this sensitive payout or identity data.
5. Marketplace Data Sharing Between Buyers and Sellers
When you purchase a digital product on the Versic marketplace, the buyer's name and email address are shared with the seller in order to fulfill the order. This information may also appear in the purchased files' license documents or receipt to evidence the grant of rights to the buyer.
The seller is the merchant of record for the sale and acts as an independent data controller with respect to the buyer information they receive. The seller is responsible for its own handling, use, and protection of that information, including any communications, support, or licensing obligations arising from the sale. Versic does not control how a seller uses buyer information once it has been shared to complete an order.
6. Tax Reporting
Tax-reporting documents related to a seller's sales (for example, a U.S. IRS Form 1099-K, where applicable) are issued by Stripe in connection with the seller's connected account, based on the information Stripe holds. Sellers are solely responsible for their own tax obligations, including sales tax, VAT, and income tax. Versic does not issue these tax documents and does not act as the seller's tax agent.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with service providers who assist in operating our platform, subject to confidentiality agreements. We also share data with Stripe as our payment processor and, for marketplace orders, with the relevant seller as described above. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Versic, our users, and the public.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can export your data at any time through your account settings. Please note that information already shared with a seller to fulfill a completed purchase, or held by Stripe as part of a transaction record, may be subject to that party's own retention practices and legal obligations.
- Access your personal data
- Request data correction or deletion
- Export your projects and data
- Opt out of marketing communications
9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Deleted files are moved to trash with a 30-day recovery window, after which they are permanently removed. We retain marketplace purchase and sale records, including the parties, items, and amounts involved, for as long as needed to provide order history, support buyers and sellers, resolve disputes, and meet our legal, accounting, and tax-related obligations, even after the underlying files are removed.
10. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember preferences, and analyze usage patterns.
