How they work together

The desktop app is a lightweight companion that adds automatic sync capabilities. Your main workflow stays in the web app.

1

Save in your DAW

Save your project to the Versic folder in Finder. The desktop app syncs it automatically.

2

Desktop syncs silently

The menubar icon shows sync progress. No interaction needed—it just works in the background.

3

Manage in the web app

Open the web app to collaborate, create playlists, share with clients, and access all features.

What the desktop app adds

File Provider Extension

Installs as a native macOS File Provider, creating a Versic location in your Finder sidebar—just like iCloud Drive or Dropbox.

Smart Sync Engine

Intelligently syncs your projects in the background. Only downloads what you need, when you need it.

Menubar Status

See sync status at a glance from your menubar. Know exactly when your latest save has been uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the desktop app to use Versic?

No. The web app is the full Versic experience—collaboration, playlists, streaming, version history, and more. The desktop app simply adds automatic sync from your Finder, so you don't have to manually upload.

What does the desktop app actually do?

It's a lightweight background app that creates a Versic folder in your Finder. When you save a project there, it automatically syncs to the cloud. The menubar icon shows sync status. That's it—all the real features are in the web app.

Can I use both at the same time?

Absolutely. Most users save from their DAW using the Finder integration, then open the web app to collaborate, share, and manage their projects. They're designed to work together.

What about Windows and Linux?

We're working on Windows support for the desktop sync app. In the meantime, you can use the full web app from any browser—just upload your projects manually instead of through Finder.

Is my data safe if I uninstall the desktop app?

Yes. All your projects are stored securely in the cloud and accessible through the web app. The desktop app is just a sync client—removing it doesn't affect your data.
